During the design phase often arises the question: “Is the casting structure strong? Will it support the applied force without problems of breakage?”
The answer usually is: “Given our experience there aren’t any problems.”
However, we do not want to give a simple opinion, but a technical and objective response to this question analyzing the structure with a FEM calculation.
Casting structures, as die shoes, blank holders, punches or cams, are analyzed in static mode, defining the constraints of the casting, as, for example, metal flows and supports and the loads to which it is stressed, especially to the force expressed by the press.
This allows us to define solutions, above all in critical conditions, which the experience alone would not be able to support.
The FEM calculations structure can be made for each part that composes the die.
The 3D file of a project is not only a chart but also a container of information… it is enough to know how to take and use them in order to give the searched added value.
